Here are 11 quick tips for helping you overcome those office blues:

  1. Think of the positives, not the negatives. Try to focus your attention on things that are going right for you. Show people your skills and how you are making a difference.
  2. If someone is making a difference by helping you or your teammates, let them know.
  3. Try to understand that change will happen, no matter what. Try to make it work for you, instead of against you.
  4. See what you can change about yourself, don’t try to change others. Focus on the challenges and embrace the strengths.
  5. Avoid people that gossip, you will only get yourself deeper into negativity.
  6. Expand your mind. Take classes, read a book, read current events about new trends that are happening in your field.
  7. If someone is being negative with you, ask them why they are raising their voice or why they are being pessimistic. At times, the person that conveys this tone doesn’t realize they are coming across in a harmful manner.
  8. Remember, we are all human and we make mistakes. Learn from them and build on your weaknesses to make them into strengths.
  9. Try to forget about work outside of work. Take up a hobby, play some sports, spend time with your family.
  10. If people are bothering you with their negativity, let it go in one ear and out the other. Focus on what will make your job easier and better.
  11. Remember to smile, do your job well and increase your foundation of skills.
Follow these simple steps and you will feel more energized, happy and motivated to do a better job each and every day.
