Closing Shared Files While Away From Desk

Do you share files on a network within your office? Are you the type of person that needs to run between your desk and other places on a regular basis?

 

I am one of these people. Since I help out a staff of 30, which includes 6 managers, I constantly am away from my desk doing different tasks such as going to the printer on the other side of the office or bringing rush items to the mail room.

 

One thing that I've noticed and I have been a suspect of this as well in the past, is that people tend to leave their shared files open on their computers while they are gone for long periods of time. If someone else needs to access information, they can just click the "Read-Only" button. But if they need to change information, this could cause a problem.

 

So the next time you know you will be leaving your desk for a long period of time, please make sure to close any files that are shared among your staff. It will make everyone's life easier and more hassle free.
