Do you have trouble figuring out how to call a client or even a colleague in another country? Do you want to fax some documents to a client, but not sure if the fax number you are dialing will be correct?I had the same trouble in the past, since I have to fax quite a few documents to clients on a regular basis. In my particular field (Publishing), it can be very stressful when your boss asks you to fax something right away, since the time difference is substantial at times and you need to figure out how to decipher a fax number.
There’s a really easy solution to this. I found a great website called Time and Date.com. This site allows you to select a city or near a city that you are dialing from and select the city or near city that you need to dial. Then you just enter the phone or fax number in the third section.

Voila! You have yourself the dialing instructions.

But don’t forget, some office fax machines require you to dial 9 before any numbers, so don’t forget that. Otherwise, you’ll get a busy signal each and every time.

Thanks for posting the "trying to phone/fax internationally" issue. That website really saved me a lot of trouble. It definitely works! Thank you!
Hi Regina,
You're most welcome! Glad to hear that it's a time saver.
Thanks,
Richard
Richard--
That looks great, but I have one question. Is there a fee of any sort that goes with the international fax? I'm trying to send a housing application from a college campus in the US to an administrative office at a school in Beirut, Lebanon. I've got their fax number and the information to get an external line from my campus, but I don't want to incur some massive charge without realizing it. Thanks!
Hi Neil,
Faxing is just like using the phone for voice long distance calls. All long distance charges apply, so be careful of how many minutes you spend sending faxes.
Thanks,
Richard
So you might not want to send too much data down the line. Great article, any chance I can post this at www.faxinginternationally.com?
I have to fax quite a few documents to clients on a regular basis, and this post will help me.
