Of course, everyone is at their own job to make money. That's the most important part, since you can't survive without it. But at the same time, people need to have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day; otherwise, it's just considered a J-O-B as opposed to a career.
You have to focus on your own tasks each and every day, but remember that your goal is to function as an organization, not as individuals helping only themselves. This can be tricky, as you want to make sure that you get your own work completed, but want to also make sure that you are a team player.
Conflicts in the workplace such as office gossip, politics and rumors can hinder this type of behavior. Avoiding these types of situations can get your team up and running in a more productive and positive manner.
Ignoring conflict is not a good idea either, since it can slowly brew over time. Think of it this way. Pretend that the person having the conflict is a bottle of soda. People keep bothering this person from time to time, but eventually, they end up blowing up, since the carbon eventually becomes too strong.
Communicating with your teammates will help everyone achieve their goals as a whole. Make sure to tell people if you feel that you have too much on your plate and that once you've completed the more important tasks, you can help them out. On the other side of the spectrum, if you have a small workload, make sure to lend a helping hand.
To sum up, make sure that you are doing onto others as others would do onto you. Remember that all of you are there to help each other out as a team, not as individuals trying to reach each goal on their own.
