Getting Job Postings in your Mailbox

Are you currently looking for a job?  Have you recently been laid off and want to get back into the workforce as soon as possible?  If you are part of this scenario, you are not alone.

Since the fall of the global economy, many people have been trying to find a new job, sometimes even a new career.  Some are just trying to make ends meet.

There’s a great feature that I’ve been using for blogging purposes, but realized that this can be used for job searching as well.  It’s been around for quite a bit of time, but so many people either don’t know about it or don’t utilize this wonderful resource.

It’s RSS feeds, which can be found on many sites such as Workopolis and Monster.  Another great one is Google Alerts, where you type in particular search criteria, such as jobs in whatever city that you live in and the system e-mails you postings that come up with this particular criteria.  You can also find tips on writing good queries to make sure that you don’t get bombarded with too much information and especially criteria that you are not looking for.

You can set up your alerts to show up in a reader or get e-mailed to you, just like this blog.  You can find instructions at the end of this post or on the right hand side of the page, if you are reading this post from the internet directly.
