Another work around here is to purchase both tickets separately. Book the first ticket. Pay with the credit card. Go back to the website and book the 2nd ticket, using the same credit card to pay, using the other guy's credit card, but the 2nd guy's frequent flyer number. Most websites will allow you to book under one name and use a credit card under another name.

I used to make extensive travel arrangements in a previous job, and this is how I'd manage it.

If you go through a travel agent, they can usually manage this for you.
